The ESL PUBG Masters Americas Grand Final is upon us once again! Sixteen teams will enter the battlegrounds guns blazing for their cut of the $50,000 USD Prize Pool. Over the next two weekends, expect epic showdowns and shootouts as teams play for the prize money, PGC Points, and pride.  Get ready and keep reading, because we’re in for a promising two weekends of intense PUBG action.

The Americas Grand Final will take place over two weekends, February 25-27 and March 4-5. The ESL PUBG Masters Champion and the biggest chunk of the Prize Money will be determined by a cumulative leaderboard across both weeks, based on the Point Rule.

THE FAVORITES

After their dominating performance in the ESL PUBG Masters NA Regional Playoff, eUnited is the team to beat. They lead the playoffs in Chicken Dinners, Placement Points, and Kill Points, totaling 165 Points. That gives eUnited a 42-point lead over second-place Gascans who only have a 4-point lead over third-place Soniqs. eUnited is the heavy favorite, because not only do they have the most Chicken Dinners, those Chicken Dinners are usually accompanied by high kill counts. They are also often the literal team to beat for other teams’ Chicken Dinners.

Gascans however, have been gathering a lot of attention and forced their way into the conversation. Their explosive performance on Day 2 allowed them to get ahead of Soniqs and stay ahead for the remainder of the weekend.

But Soniqs should never be counted out, as they remained in the top 3 on their day off, with only a 4-point difference between them and second place. Soniqs are still highly regarded regionally and internationally after dominating the last two years with three straight PCS victories (2-4) at the regional level and a PGI.S crown at the International stage.  Their lingering presence behind eUnited and Gascans will strike fear into their opponents. Soniqs are very accustomed to the pressure and stakes of the Grand Final, and their familiarity might give them the edge to take the top spot.

From the LATAM Regional Playoff, Synergy Esports and Just 2 Easy led the competition and are poised to come out strong in the Grand Final. Three of Synergy Esports players, PIPAA, Captain, and  f1sherr, boasts the top stats in the LATAM Regional Playoff, making them the obvious team to beat. But Just 2 Easy came in second and were all over the highlight reels. They might not boast the top stats individually, but their scene-stealing performances could give them the wins when it really counts.

THE UNDERDOGS

While points are what you need to win, they’re still just numbers. No one understands that more than Nootropics, who ended the NA Regional Playoff with a Chicken Dinner over eUnited and 303 eSports. Nootropics made it to the Grand Final by the skin of their teeth, just edging out Team Veritas by a single point to take 10th Place. Nootropics is coming off a major win and something to prove, potentially giving them the magical combination to steal the show.

Bing Bang Boom and Dodge, who both won two Chicken Dinners from the NA Regional Playoff could also be a threat to the top dogs. Bing Bang Boom lives up to their team name and have been giving explosive performances that result in high kill count wins. Dodge won both of their matches on Day 3 and were the only team to win more Chicken Dinners than eUnited when their respective groups faced off. With some prep and adjustments, either of these teams could easily find themselves at the top.

TROGLODITAS scored 5th place in the LATAM Regional Playoff. This Brazilian team has three veteran players, rustyzera, Killdemo, and NecroAQN, who are experienced with international competition and have an ever-growing synergy that should worry the competition. Necro also had the second-highest KDA in the LATAM Regional Playoff and could be a key factor for TROGLODITAS to score loads of points.

Last, and certainly not least, there are Teams What A Rush, 22 Esports, Yaho, Young Kings, Shoot to Kill, e Underdogs, and The Rumblers ready to make plays. Any of these teams can take the top spots. No one is safe and it is anybody’s game in the Grand Final. While the winner isn’t guaranteed, two weekends of intense Battleground matchups start Friday at 4 pm PT!
